Wow Quite a 6 Weeks its been!

Well folks again I have fallen behind on my blogging updates but I am back and finally able to give this its due!

It’s been 48 days since my last update; this is an incredibly busy time of year for us so I will try to fill you in as best as I can!  Thanks for your patience.

The primary energy killer this time of year is the beginning of the high school baseball season.  This year marks my 4th at CBHS, the longest I've been at any school.  The first 7 weeks of the 2011 baseball season has been jam packed with practices everyday (except Sunday, UIL rule), 6 scrimmages, 3 tournaments, 2 non-district games, 4 district games, and 5 scouting trips (so far).  For all those away contests I get to get up at 5 AM to go pick up a bus!  So far we are off to a 7-7 start, a bit down from the 16-7-1 and 18-6 record my team was able to post the last two seasons, my guys are working hard and we’re gonna turn it around in the final 10 games!! Don’t forget you can get a recap of every game by going to www.gamchanger.io creating a log in and searching for Clear Brook Sophs.

The other major culprit in our time management has been our college courses at the University of Houston.  I am currently enrolled in Sport in Contemporary Society.  So far I have had to write 4 papers (#4 was due Tuesday) with one more to come and a Final Exam sometime in early May.  Randi’s class eats up her weekends? Saturday class yuck!

There has been some fun however.  On February 20th we both completed the Livestrong 1/2 Marathon in Austin, TX.  It was our 2nd ½ marathon in a span of 3 weeks.  We both completed the Houston ½ Marathon on January 27th.  While the Austin marathon was fun it was a working weekend as well.  Our entry fee for the race was covered by Dr. McFarlin for helping him get subjects for his marathon supplement study.  I also participated in the study and am awaiting my free $30 in Amazon.com gift cards!

This past weekend I competed in my first solo run (sans Randi), when I completed the Warrior Dash.  What a Muddy Blast! If you want the results my bib # was 32277.  For those readers in Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana there is one in Channahon, IL later this year, if you're interested!  I recommend it

On March 6th we took advantage of some freebie tickets to the Houston Aeros minor league hockey game at the Toyota Center, we were joined by a friend of Randi's named Sher. It was a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon filled with Zamboni machines, pretzels, and fights...unfortunately the Aeros' lost on a power play goal in the final 46 seconds.

Now for the part of the blog everyone has been waiting for!  Our Lena update,  miss Lena has been a good girl...mostly.  She continues to be be playful, full of spirit, friendly, and loving.  She loves to go for rides in the truck, as soon as she goes out front she makes a bee line for the side of the truck and waits there for me to open the door, even if we aren't going anywhere.  She has been a little sick, I guess that is the best way to put it.  She started shedding her coat, like labs do, but A LOT of hair was coming off and we were noticing bare spots on her body.  So I took her to the vet and he ran some tests, and she is healthy as can be but he thinks she must have a food allergy, so we are gonna go back to the food she was on when she initially came to live with us, plus we got her a zinc supplement which is supposed to help as well.  She is 3 classes away from graduating from beginner level doggie school, when that ends she will be moving on to the intermediate class.  She currently sits, can be coaxed into a down and crawl or spin. We are working on listening to commands from a distance and not jumping up when greeting people.  The only annoying thing she does right now is she likes to chew on my baseball hat.  The other day she got into my bag and took out my t-shirt from the Warrior Dash.
Being a Good Dog and chewing on her bone and not my Hat!

Here is a video of her taking a walk in the park...there is a dog on the other side of the wall that is less than 1/4 her size!

Well I guess that is all for now...unless I am leaving something out????
